Work begins on the redevelopment of Pioneer Leisure Centre on 3 June 2008.
The centre's 3 squash courts will close Sunday 1 June 2008.
The double height area occupied by the squash courts is being redeveloped to expand the Fitness Centre and number and type of classes offered through the Aerobics Room.
From 3 June 2008 the Fitness centre and Aerobics Room will be accessed by a temporary entrance off Lyttelton Street.
With a project of this nature there will always be some issues with noise and access to facilities. The work project has been designed to ensure there is minimial impact and customers can continue to enjoy the facilities and services throughout the redevelopment phase.
Where noise and dust will be a major issue work has been scheduled after hours.
When the redeveloped areas open in October there will be double the amount of space, less crowding, new equipment and a number of new classes to help keep everyone active.
