Aerobics

Aerobics is a fun motivating way to exercise, we have a variety of great classes at the three Leisure Centres. Classes are suitable for beginners who want to take it slow and ease themselves into exercise to the more serious harder workouts. Our classes are for 14 years and over. Childcare centres are available at Pioneer and QEII.

To enhance better muscle toning and fat burning a combination of BAT or Pump Power with a cardiovascular based class or a total body workout with one of our Circuit classes will produce faster results.

Classes

Entry Level

Easi Fit: A combination of easy low impact moves for the beginner that includes movement to music, dancing, strength training, circuit and stretching. Exercises can be performed in standing, sitting or laying on a mat. This class is an entry level class to our Group Exercise programme and is not aged based.

Gentle Exercise: Suitable for the older adult and absolute beginner who wants to take it slowly, but have fun and enjoy the company.

Seated Gentle Exercise: Seated Designed for the older adult or those with limited mobility. Appropriate exercises using chairs and floor space will help to retain mobility, increase muscle and bone strength, increase general fitness and a sense of wellbeing. Please inform the tutor of any medical condition you have prior to the class.

Flexibility

Stretch and Release: A mind body class incorporating Eastern forms of exercises (eg Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi) The class starts with a warm up and heating section, a toning and strength section and finishes with relaxation exercises. Low energy, stress, muscular tension or just want to improve your flexibility this class is for you. Suitable for people of all walks of life.

Cardio and Toning

B.A.T. (Butts, Abs ‘n’ Thighs): This class is purely conditioning and designed to seriously firm and tone your lower half. (Not aerobics class. No coordination required).

Cardio Fusion: A dynamic cardio class that will leave you feeling uplifted and re-energised. This class takes simple aerobics moves and fuses them with basic dance steps, jumps and leaps to get your heart racing and your body sweating! Suitable for all levels.

Circuit: Utilising a diverse range of exercise descriptions, ranging from resistance to cardio, spin to boxing. Be surprised with one of our classes. Mon 6.30pm, Circuit; Wed 6.10am, Sports Circuit;Thurs 9.30am, Circuit; Thurs 6.30pm, Cardio Circuit; Fri 6.10am, Cardio Circuit.

Pump Get the metabolism going with this muscle toning, fat burning workout, comprises of functional moves using barbells and hand weights. No aerobics here! Suitable for all levels.

Cardioblast: A high energy combination of aerobic moves and interval training that will challenge your body to the max! Suitable for those wanting to increase their cardio fitness.

Step: Using the step box as an athletic platform, involves step moves for a great fat burning workout that tones the legs and butt. Vary the intensity by adjusting the step height. Suitable for all levels.

Aqua Classes

Aqua GO A low to medium intensity, technique and fun orientated class that is ideal for beginners, seniors, pregnant mums, and those recovering from injury. Using equipment and light cardio work you will learn aquatic exercise techniques that aim to improve core stability, co-ordination, agility, muscular strength and isolation, and overall flexibility.

Aqua FIT A medium to high intensity class incorporating equipment to improve core stability and balance, while increasing muscular strength, endurance and overall flexibility.
